UlysseNardin Athenaeum Grand Deck When the flagship tourbillon was launched in 2016, it was issued in limited edition of 18 platinum models, which attracted great attention from the entire top watch industry. The watch relies on a bar that looks like a sailboat to display the time, and combines cutting-edge technology, innovative machinery and superb watchmaking technology to perfectly interpret the name of the Athenian watch.
In 2017, in Le Roque, Switzerland, Ulysse Nardin launched the Grand Deck, a flagship nautical tourbillon in warm tones, with a 5N rose gold case, limited to 18 pieces.
Grand Deck’s flagship tourbillon is loyal to deep sailing sentiments, combining superb craftsmanship and new technologies, and boldly exploring various elements on the yacht deck. As a basic principle of the Athenian watch, craftsmanship is perfectly displayed on the dial details: the hand-carved needle oak wood grain dial seems to make people sit on the wheel plywood. The slightly darker wood is chocolate-colored, accentuating the rose gold color of the case and lugs.
Grand Deck’s flagship tourbillon is an innovative technology that has been praised by international media and watch professionals for its patented time display device. This new revolutionary invention originates from the use of girders, ropes and winches for sails on yachts. This mechanical device uses ultra-tough and ultra-thin high-tech nano-fiber threads as the rope, and uses a unique automatic return digital time jump device, which pulls the minute slide rod through 2 pulleys and 2 gold winches. Below the international signal flag at 12 o’clock is a double-window jumping display, with a white background to improve readability; the pusher at 2 o’clock can quickly adjust the hour display.
In the center of the dial is a spinel curved scale with a gold minute display. The gold minute hand slider moves between the scales. This system is controlled by a dual barrel system, and a high-precision flying tourbillon is embedded in the gold ring at 6 o’clock.
Grand Deck’s flagship tourbillon is equipped with a UN-630 manual winding movement, a 60-second flying tourbillon, a 48-hour power reserve, and a water resistance of 100 meters. This latest watch is enough to show the maritime elements of the Athens watch sailing in the deep sea.
